*Expedition: 6 W-E transects in front of Danube mouths,
twice a year between 1977 and 1980, sampling at the standard depths.

*Parameters: Temperature (deg. C), salinity (ppt), density (Sig-t),
dissolved oxygen (uM), phosphates (uM), silicates (uM), nitrites (uM)
and nitrates (uM).

*Instruments and methods: Nansen bottles with reversible thermometers,
dissolved oxygen by standard Winkler titration, salinity by Mohr-Knudsen
method, phosphates, silicates, nitrites and nitrates by methods given in
"A practical handbook of seawater analysis" by J.D.H. Strikland &
T.S. Parsons 1972 and "Methods of seawater analysis" by K.Grasshoff,
M.Ehrhardt, K.Kremling 1976, using a spectrophotometer Beckman Model 25.

*Accuracy: 0.01 deg.C for temperature, 5uM for oxygen, 0.02ppt
for salinity, 0.01uM for phosphates, 0.05uM for silicates, 0.01uM
for nitrites and 0.05uM for nitrates.

sedimentary method (Morozova - Vodianitskaya 1948, Utermohl method variant);
microscope counting of algae species cells, from subsamples of the
0.5 -1.0 liter samples; biomass estimation trough multiplying numerical
density with species average weight.

and autumn (September or October), 3 transects with 11-15
stations in front of Danube Delta (Sulina, Sf.Gheorghe and
Portita).

*Parameters:Zoobenthos total biomass (g/m2).

*Instruments and methods: Sampling on depths on bathymetric
zones: 7m, 10-20m, 20-30m, 20-30m, 30-40m, 40-50m with
Van Veen grab (1/20m2); samples treated on board with 4%
formaldehyde. In laboratory, each sample was sieved by 1mm, 0.25mm,
0.10mm mesh screen; animals were removed under a microscope, identified
to  species and counted. The biomasses of the organisms smaller
than 2mm were calculated using tables of weights and of those than 2mm
by weighting.

30-20, 40-30 m) using Djedi net having 36 cm diameter and 200
microns mesh size; samples treated on ship-board with 4%
formaldehide; in laboratory each sample was quantitatively
(numerical density and biomass on species) and qualitatively
analyzed using plankton-microscope. Biomasses calculated
using the individual wet-weights given by Petipa (1959).
