*Ship name: Palamida (RMRI, Constantza, Romania).

*Expedition: Monthly cruises each year, biginning in February to October
(1982-1986), in 7-17 stations settled on 5 and 20 m izobaths, in front of

*Parameters: Total biomass (mg/m3), total density (ind/m3).

*Instruments and methods: Sampling on horizons (0-0, 10-0, 20-10 m) with Djedi
net having 36 cm diameter and 200 microns mesh size; samples treated on ship-
board with 4% formaldehide; in laboratory each sample was quantitatively
(numerical densities and biomasses on species) and qualitatively analyzed
using plankton-microscope. Biomasses calculated using the individual wet-
weights given by Petipa (1959).
