Project title: BLACK SEA ECOSYSTEM PROCESSES AND FORECASTING / OPERATIONAL DATABASE MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

   The Project was established at the end of 1998 as a co-operation between major marine research institutions in 6 Black Sea countries, with the support of NATO Science for Peace Sub-Programme.

Major objectives of the Project:

Project participants:    Institute of Marine Sciences METU, Turkey;    Marine Hydrophysical Institute, Ukraine;    P.P.Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Russia;    Southern Branch of P.P.Shirshov Institute of Oceanology, Russia;    Institute of Biology of Southern Seas, Ukraine;    Romanian Marine Research Institute, Romania;    Institute of Oceanology of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, Bulgaria;    Tbilisi State University, Georgia.

Project co-directors: Prof. Ilkay Salihoglu (IMS METU, Turkey), Dr. Alexander Mikaelyan (P.P.Shirshov IO RAS, Russia), Dr. Leonid Ivanov (MHI NASU, Ukraine), Prof. Victor Zaika (IBSS, Ukraine), Prof. Ruben Kosyan (P.P. Shirshov IO RAS, Gelendzhik, Russia), Dr. Alexandru Bologa (RMRI, Romania), Dr. Snejana Moncheva (IO BAS, Bulgaria), and Dr. Kakhaber Bilashvili (TSU, Georgia)

Duration of  the Project: four years.
