*Format: station CTD data file format of the NATO TU-BS project.

*Ship (station) name: R/V Bilim (IMS-METU, Turkey).

*Expedition: August 1993.

*Parameters: Depth, temperature, salinity.

*Instruments and methods: Seabird Electronics (SBE) CTD probe
and deck unit was used with a wire winch from the rear of the vessel.

*Accuracy: Not applicable since the instruments are not periodically
calibrated (precision is one part in ten thousand).

*Processing (if applied): Data are averaged with respect to one meter
depth bins and converted to ASCII.

*Principal investigator(s):  Umit Unluata (IMS-METU, Turkey).

*Digitization: On board of the ship via deck unit under the responsibility of
the principal investigator. Processing applied at IMS-METU under responsibility
of the department of Physical Oceanography.

*Remarks: Data are reliable due to quality of the instrumentation and precise
acquisition.

*Completed by: Sinan Husrevoglu (IMS-METU, Turkey).

*Date: 25.06.1996.

*Source of data: IMS-METU.
____________________________________________________________________

*Data file(s): chem.dat, chem1.dat

*Format: station data file format of the NATO TU-BS project.

*Ship (station) name: R/V Bilim (IMS-METU, Turkey).

*Expedition: August 1993.

*Parameters: Depth, temperature, salinity, hydrogen sulfide, phosphate,
nitrite, silicate, chlorophyll, DOW, nitrite+nitrate.

*Instruments and methods: -Hydrogen sulfide is determined by iodometric back
titration.
-Phosphate, nitrite, silicate and nitrite+nitrate are determined by
the Technicon Autoanalyzer.
-Chlorophyll is determined by spectrophotometric methods.
-DOW is determined by Winkler titration method.
-Temperature and salinity are obtained by the CTD probe.

*Accuracy:

*Processing (if applied): None.

*Principal investigator(s):  Ozden Basturk (IMS-METU, Turkey).

*Digitization: Single-key entry at IMS-METU under supervision of Ozden
Basturk (IMS-METU).

*Remarks: Data are reliable in the sense of qualified staff and
instrumentation, however no error bounds or intercalibrations are present.

*Completed by: Sinan Husrevoglu (IMS-METU, Turkey).

*Date: 25.06.1996.

*Source of data: IMS-METU.

*Data file(s): sd.dat

*Format: station data file format of the NATO TU-BS project.

*Ship (station) name: R/V Bilim (IMS-METU, Turkey).

*Expedition: August 1993.

*Parameters: Secchi disk depth.

*Instruments and methods: Standard Secchi disk (0.3 m in diameter) fixed on
the rosette where the Nansen bottles, the CTD probe and the additional
sensors are. The disk is fixed at a known height offset from the pressure
sensor.

*Accuracy: Approximately 0.5 m.

*Processing (if applied): Corrections are made for the wire angle.

*Principal investigator(s):  Aysen Yilmaz (IMS-METU, Turkey).

*Digitization: Single-key entry at IMS-METU.

*Remarks: The depth is determined by the pressure sensor of the CTD probe
and the staff are reliably experienced.

*Completed by: Sinan Husrevoglu (IMS-METU, Turkey).

*Date: 25.06.1996.

*Source of data: IMS-METU.

*Ship (station) name: R/V Bilim
*Expedition: Not Registered
*Parameters: Mesozooplankton 81 Stations
*Instruments and methods: Hensen net (300 micron mesh size) Vertical haul
*Accuracy: the error of determination depends upon the wire angle
*Processing (if applied): without corrections of the wire angle
*Principal investigators: G. Ergun; Sorting: Ayse; Identification:
U. Niermann, T. Shiganova
*Digitization: In Biology Laboratory of IMS-METU (Erdemli) for database
*Remarks: File B9308.dat
Description:
Horizon minimum (m), Horizon maximum (m) of haul, Groups
Groups:
1 = fodder zooplankton (without Jellyplankton)
2 = Noctiluca not recorded because of big mesh size.
